″Human-assisted migration″ ⇒
One possible response to climate change is "human-assisted migration," which proposes the introduction of drought-adapted tree species to maintain the economic and ecological value of forests. Mediterranean oaks, such as Quercus ilex and Quercus pubescens, are considered to be better adapted to future climatic conditions.
As observed in this area, Quercus robur shows a strong response to drought, with reduced water potential and loss of vitality. In contrast, Quercus ilex and Quercus pubescens are resilient to drought, with minimal reduction in growth.
Since this oak stand is located in the National Parks protection zone one. We will not see any kind of human intervention, but over time we will see how nature develops by itself.
